Botox & Juvéderm Q & A
What are Botox and Juvéderm?
Botox and Juvéderm are both injectable treatments for your face, but that’s where the similarities end. Botox and Juvéderm meet two different needs of aging skin.
Botox
Botox treats dynamic facial lines and wrinkles — the ones that appear when you frown, squint, or smile. Muscle movement causes dynamic lines and wrinkles, which means that the lines smooth out when you relax your muscles.
As you age, you lose skin elasticity, and the lines between your eyebrows and around your eyes may stick around even when you’re not making facial expressions. Botox corrects this problem by temporarily stopping the signals that tell your muscles to contract.
Botox treats lines between your eyebrows, crow’s feet, and forehead lines.
Juvéderm Voluma™
Juvéderm Voluma addresses mid-face volume loss. This unique formula is ideal for gently lifting the cheek area, which creates a more youthful look. Voluma can be a good way to restore your facial volume as you age.
Juvéderm
Juvéderm fillers address static facial wrinkles and folds — the ones that appear at all times. The leading cause of static wrinkles is age-related volume loss, which usually begins in your 20s and 30s.
Juvéderm’s a dermal filler, which means it fills in those areas of volume loss. There are several different Juvéderm formulas, each for a specific concern. While Voluma helps with cheek volume; other Juvéderm formulas treat nasolabial folds (the laugh lines around your nose and mouth).
Additionally, Juvéderm can treat your lips. If you want to restore lip volume or get a pouter plump, the team can inject Juvéderm inside and around your lip borders.
If you’re unsure which type of lines or wrinkles you have, the Northern Virginia Internal Medicine and Pediatrics team can explain the best product for your specific needs.
Can I get Botox and Juvéderm at the same time?
Botox and Juvéderm injectables work remarkably well together. Many people feel unhappy with facial changes as they age, and the combination of Botox and Juvéderm can give you excellent results without surgery or invasive procedures.
How long do Botox and Juvéderm last?
On average, Botox lasts up to four months. Juvéderm varies by formula, but most Juvéderm products last 12-24 months on average.
When will I see the results of Botox and Juvéderm?
With Botox, you may see lines and wrinkles start relaxing within 24-48 hours. Juvéderm offers instantaneous results.
Are you looking for a no-downtime way to look younger? Botox and Juvéderm are excellent treatments to consider. Call Northern Virginia Internal Medicine and Pediatrics or schedule an appointment online today.
